ABOUT US

History

In 1969, a small group of Chesapeake Republican women decided to get serious.  They were small in number but very big in determination.  Their goal was simple – encourage other women to get involved and make a difference from the grassroots level up.  And that is exactly what they did.

They joined the Virginia Federation of Republican Women (VFRW) and National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW), and were chartered under the name, Central Chesapeake Republican Women’s Club (CCRWC).  They quickly became involved in local elections, working the polls, making phone calls and walking neighborhoods.  They worked tirelessly, and eventually saw the results of their efforts as Republican candidates were elected to local and state offices.

Mission

Today, the Club works closely with the VFRW, the NFRW and other local clubs to accomplish our mission:

  • Inform the community through political education and action;
  • Foster loyalty to the Republican Party and promote its principles and candidates in local, state and national elections;
  • Empower women of all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds to participate in the political process;
  • Recruit and support Republican women for elected office on local, state and national levels; and
  • Support and develop a unified national approach to fostering the goals of the Republican Party.

Our program of work benefits the Veteran's Hospital-Hampton, Celebrity Readers-Camelot Elementary School, Girl Scouts of America, The Barbara Bush Literacy Project, a graduating senior scholarship, and local, state and national Republican candidates.

Our Club is currently home to our City Treasurer, Commonwealth’s Attorney, Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney, two Chesapeake City Council Members, public school principal, administrators and teachers, and small business owners.  We are also home to housewives, retirees, mothers, grandmothers, sisters, and daughters.  We work hard and play hard, volunteering in many ways throughout our community.  We welcome women who share our love for America.
